The Santiago de Compostela derailment happened on 24 July 2013, when an Alvia superior-velocity practice touring from Madrid to Ferrol, in the north-west of Spain. Out of 222 people today (218 travellers and 4 crew) on board, all around 140 had been hurt and 79 died.
